  • Introduction:

The load valve is a core control component in the hydraulic systems of construction machinery such as loaders, forklifts, and excavators. It primarily regulates the pressure, flow, and direction of hydraulic oil, enabling precise control over the lifting, tilting, and other movements of working devices like buckets and booms. As such, it plays a crucial role in ensuring both the operational efficiency and safety of these machines.
    I. Core Function: The "Command Center" of the Hydraulic System
The core function of the load valve is to convert the hydraulic energy generated by the engine-driven hydraulic pump into mechanical energy for the working device; its specific functions can be categorized into three main types:
        1. Direction Control
By moving the spool, the flow path of hydraulic oil is altered, enabling the switching of actions in the working mechanism—for example, controlling the bucket to "lift/lower" or "tilt forward/backward," or extending/retracting the boom.
         2. Pressure Control
Built-in components such as overflow valves and pressure-reducing valves limit the maximum pressure of the hydraulic system (typically 16–25 MPa, though this should match the equipment’s rated pressure) to prevent damage to components like hydraulic pumps and cylinders caused by excessive pressure. Additionally, the system can adjust the working pressure according to load requirements, helping to avoid energy waste.
       3. Traffic Control
Through orifice or flow valve structures, the hydraulic oil flow entering the cylinder is adjusted to control the speed of the working device's movements (such as the lifting speed and tilting rate of the bucket), ensuring smooth and precise operation while preventing "jerkiness" caused by load fluctuations.
II. Maintenance Essentials: The Key to Extending Service Life
Failures of the loading valve (such as leakage, sluggish operation, or insufficient pressure) are often linked to improper maintenance. Therefore, please pay attention to the following matters on a daily basis:
          1. Hydraulic Oil Management
Strictly use the hydraulic oil model specified in the equipment manual (such as 46# anti-wear hydraulic oil, or 32# for use in low-temperature environments); mixing oils of different brands or models is strictly prohibited.
Regularly replace the hydraulic oil and filter elements (first at 100 hours, then every 500 hours thereafter) to prevent impurities in the fluid from wearing down the valve spool or clogging the oil passages.
          2. Seal Inspection and Replacement
Monthly check the sealing condition of the loading valve interface and the valve core end cap. If oil leakage is detected, promptly replace the seals (remember to clean any impurities from the interface during replacement to prevent scratching the sealing surfaces).
The replacement cycle for seals is typically 1,500–2,000 hours, or can be adjusted based on the equipment's operational intensity (for example, in mining conditions, it may need to be shortened to 1,000 hours).
        3. Operational Guidelines
Avoid "sudden, forceful" manipulation of the joystick to prevent rapid spool movement, which could lead to hydraulic shock and damage seals or the valve body.
After the equipment is started, it should run unloaded for 5–10 minutes (allowing the hydraulic oil to warm up to 20–40°C) before commencing operations, to prevent high oil viscosity at low temperatures from causing the valve spools to stick.
       4. Troubleshooting
If "slow movement" occurs: First, check the hydraulic oil level and filter element; then, verify whether the relief valve pressure is normal (use a pressure gauge to ensure it meets the specified rating).
If "action stuttering" occurs, it may be due to valve core wear or oil passage blockage. In such cases, the valve core needs to be disassembled and cleaned (rinse with diesel; never use hard objects like wire to scrape it). In severe situations, the valve core or valve body will need to be replaced.
